Dr. Michelle Ogrodnik receives 2025 Faculty of Health Teaching Award
Dr. Michelle Ogrodnik, assistant professor, teaching stream, in Kinesiology and Health Sciences, is the 2025 Faculty of Health Teaching Award recipient. The award is granted annually to an outstanding instructor in the Faculty of Health.
Ogrodnik, who joined the Faculty in 2022, teaches courses that explore the intersections of psychology and physical activity, as well as introductory courses, including Mental Health Literacy and the Sociology of Activity, Health and Well-being – the largest course in the Faculty.
“Dr. Ogrodnik is one of the smartest, kindest and most caring people I have ever met,” wrote one student nominator. “Her classes are so engaging and everyone looks forward to attending her lectures. She goes above and beyond to support students – not just academically, but personally – creating a space where everyone feels seen and cared for.”
Dr. Elena Neiterman, part of the Faculty of Health committee that selected the winner, said Ogrodnik received an overwhelming number of nominations in both the fall and winter terms.
“Students and teaching assistants spoke with such warmth about her encouragement, compassion and commitment to student success,” Neiterman said. “They praised the energy and creativity she brings to her classes, her ability to make learning both rigorous and engaging and the care she shows for each student’s well-being and growth.”
