Kinesiology first-year course selection | Kinesiology and Health Sciences

As a student in the Kinesiology Honours Bachelor of Science program at UWaterloo, you’ll learn to solve movement-related health problems and to develop strategies to prevent them. Your first year will provide you with foundational kinesiology and science courses to get you started on your exciting academic and professional path.

First-year courses

Your first year in Kinesiology consists of 10 required courses and two required labs. We enroll you in all of your required courses and create your schedules. You do not have to select any courses in your first year.

Fall term: September to December

The following courses will appear automatically on your schedule for the fall term:

KIN 104 - Fundamentals of Kinesiology
KIN 104L - Fundamentals of Kinesiology Lab
HEALTH 107 - Sociology of Activity, Health, and Well-being
BIOL 130 - Introductory Cell Biology
CHEM 120 - Physical and Chemical Properties of Matter
MATH 124 - Calculus and Vector Algebra for Kinesiology

You do not have to select any elective courses for the fall term.

In July, you can log into Quest to view your class schedule.

NOTE: Tutorials and the lab start during the second week of classes and take place every other week. Make sure to check your class schedule for these dates and times. You must attend the lab on each of the dates listed on your class schedule.

Winter term: January to April

The following courses will appear automatically on your schedule for the winter term:

KIN 100 - Human Anatomy: Limbs and Trunk
KIN 100L - Human Anatomy Lab
KIN 146 - Introduction to Human Nutrition
BIOL 273 - Principles of Human Physiology
PSYCH 101 - Introductory Psychology
PHYS 111 - Physics 1

You do not have to select any elective courses for the winter term.

You can log into Quest to view your winter schedule in November.
