Research interests

My current research interests involve social aspects of human performance in sport and work. I am involved in two research programs. The first examines how sport medicine constructs the athletic body as gendered. This project examines how the discourse of sport medicine understands the physical, social and cultural bases of athletic performance and how this knowledge informs professional practice.

Additionally, I am working with an interdisciplinary team of researchers investigating strategies to reduce the incidence of workplace injuries. My own involvement concentrates on investigating the social factors that influence the occurrence of injuries in the workplace, and utilizing qualitative methodologies, evaluating the effectiveness of intervention strategies to reduce injuries.
