Biography
Dr. Siyavash Izadi is a senior lab demonstrator in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences, where he teaches human anatomy through cadaver-based laboratories. He completed his PhD in Kinesiology, studying how the brain integrates sensory information to maintain a stable perception of the body in space. He is passionate about science communication, supporting students and developing tools that help the lab run smoothly.

Research
Dr. Izadi works at the intersection of neuroscience, perception and human factors. His doctoral research looked at how the brain combines visual, vestibular and bodily cues to keep a stable sense of which way is up, and how that process breaks down to cause cybersickness in virtual reality. Using psychophysical measures of perceived upright and electrical vestibular stimulation, he explored why some people get much sicker in VR than others, and whether the ability to flexibly reweight sensory cues under conflict predicts who adapts and who does not. He is also interested in the practical side of research, including building tools to manage and analyse experimental and anatomical data, and in finding clearer ways to communicate complex ideas to students and non-specialists.
