Celebrating this year’s theme “Archives, Citizenship and Interculturalism,” the University of Waterloo Library’s Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) invites the public to visit us and learn more about our varied collections that showcase the intercultural history of Waterloo and the world.

Build a better research essay by using the Library’s resources and databases to explore a topic, develop a research question, write a thesis, and build an argument. Research-based essay planning and development will help you create a more complex argument and essay structure.

George Orwell was the pen name of Eric Arthur Blair, a British author, journalist and critic.  Best known for writing Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four, Blair wrote several influential essays and stories. Borrow something from the Library’s collection, and head down to Special Collections & Archives (SC&A) to see even more!

Join Library Ambassadors Mariam and Samantha as they host Accio Potterheads, an event celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book. Take photos in the Harry Potter photo booth, receive your own acceptance letter to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and play Harry Potter-themed games for a chance to win prizes!
