We’re renovating!

UPDATE:

Construction has started at Dana Porter and Davis Centre libraries, and there may be noise disruptions. You can get free earplugs from the circulation desks at both locations. Keep reading to learn about the great changes coming in 2018!

The Library is making big changes to our two main locations – Dana Porter and Davis Centre Libraries. Guided by our vision for library space and student feedback, our renovation team has been working with an advisory committee and architects at WalterFedy on a plan to improve existing spaces and create new spaces that meet the changing needs of our users. Keep reading for more details:

Dana Porter Library

We are relocating collections and staff spaces to create more space for our users, this includes:

  • More bookable study rooms
  • Dynamic learning environments
  • Quiet space for prayer and reflection
  • A new student lounge area for the outreach and wellness activities we already offer
  • The 5th floor will become a staff-only floor to create more student space overall

Davis Centre Library

We are updating and improving the main floor of Davis Centre Library, including:

  • New and improved washrooms, including the addition of a fully-accessible and gender neutral washroom
  • A new student lounge area for the outreach and wellness activities we already offer
  • New carpet to create a more inviting entrance
  • Consolidated computing services close to the new IST Help Desk location
  • Better wayfinding, including an easier-to-find entrance to librarian offices

We are very excited about these changes and we think you will be too!

Work will get underway on July 4, 2017, when the 5th floor of Dana Porter Library will be closed to the public on a permanent basis.

During renovations, our government publications will be unavailable. Many are available online or through interlibrary loan (ILL). For assistance with accessing government publications, you can contact Agnes Zientarska-Kayko.

We look forward to unveiling these new and improved spaces in winter 2018! Keep an eye on the Library renovation website for news and updates. Any question or concerns can be sent to the Library’s renovation team.
