My name is Danielle. I started work as Digital Archivist with Special Collections & Archives on February 1st. Part of my role will be thinking through how to share digitized selections from our holdings online. It’s going to take some time, but the upside for you is being able to enjoy the results from the comfort of your home, couch, bed, wherever – it’s completely your call!
My knowledge of the region’s history, much of which is richly documented in archival collections from local families and individuals, is growing. As a result, I’m currently spending time getting familiar with the (incredible) collections held by the University of Waterloo Library. Doing so will help me identify the best candidates for online browsing. Along the way, I plan to share updates about what I find and how my work is progressing.
In the mean time I’ve managed to find an aspirational photo, by way of Oktoberfest, of you and I and everyone here in Special Collections & Archives when we finally launch a digital instance of our holdings:
Looking forward to celebrating with you!

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
