Special Collections & Archives offering limited in-person appointments for Waterloo students, faculty, and post doctoral fellows

Starting on September 9, Special Collections & Archives (SCA) is pleased to offer limited in-person access to our collections. This service is for Waterloo students, faculty, and post doctoral fellows for requests that support teaching, learning, and research. Access is by appointment only and drop-in visits are not currently allowed. This service is not available to researchers external to UW at this time.

Language in archival descriptions changes

Special Collections & Archives (SCA) has expanded its statement regarding language in archival descriptions to meaningfully integrate equity and reconciliation work into the department’s archival practice. The changes reflect a formalization of on-going efforts made by staff to acknowledge known instances of discrimination that appear in archival records.

Archiving COVID-19 experiences

The time we are living in now is quite unprecedented. We are working from home, practicing social distancing, finding new routines to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. Special Collections & Archives (SCA) is interested in collecting the experiences of the Waterloo community, including students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

New exhibit : new items obtained in 2019

Special Collections & Archives is pleased to unveil our new exhibit featuring material donated or purchased during 2019. Visit us in the Dana Porter Library to view items from our Cameron Clare Hill fonds including Cam’s flying helmet and haversack as well a rifle cartridge and bullet that was made into a cross.
