Special Collections & Archives is excited to announce the launch of our new exhibit: For your health: the dispensing of elixirs, tonics, and other household remedies in the twentieth century.
Visit us in the Dana Porter Library to view material from our Fritsch Pharmacy fonds, including remedies from the 1920s (that include ingredients such as turpentine and formaldehyde), poison purchase registers, pharmacy textbooks, class notes, and more.
Also on display are books and apothecary bottles donated by the School of Pharmacy. Read about the adulteration of every day household foodstuffs from the early 1800s and stories of the very real dangers and consequences of quackery and quack medicines.
For your health: the dispensing of elixirs, tonics, and other household remedies in the twentieth century is on display until August 31st.
