Shanaya Barretto, an incoming MTE student has won a Shulich Leader Scholarship for 2021, valued at $100,000. Barretto graduated from St. Joseph Secondary School. “Receiving the scholarship means I will be able to enter a field of study that I am incredibly passionate about and relieve my family of the financial burden that was placed on them,” she said (Mississauga.com). Since 2012 Waterloo has been a top recipient of the Schulich Leader Scholarships, a nation-wide award. Beginning last year the number of Waterloo students awarded more than doubled (from 4 to 10 students) and this year we’re celebrating 10 years of the Schulich Leader Scholarship with the Schulich Foundation.
