First-Year Students

First-year academic advisors are available to assist first-year engineering students with any academic inquiries students may have. Academic advisors can be accessed via in-person appointments, online appointments, or email (firstyear.engineering@uwaterloo.ca).

For immediate assistance call 519-888-4567 extension 44761, or visit the Engineering Undergraduate Studies Office in E2 1772, the office is open 8:15-5:00. Drop-in advising appointments are welcome. 

Appointments

Students can book an in-person or virtual appointment with an advisor through online booking. Select in person or virtual meeting, then select your preferred time and complete the form below the calendar. Darker calendar dates have open times. Clicking on a darker date shows available times to the right. Virtual meetings are held through MS Teams, in person meetings will be in E2 1772. Call 519-888-4567 extension 44761 if you have any questions.

Want to be an engineer?

Students wishing to transfer to Engineering from another faculty can contact eng.transfers@uwaterloo.ca. For more information see program transfers.

Upper-Year Students (2A and up)

The Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering department has a centralized approach for advising. Students are encouraged to reach out to the appropriate mailbox as indicated below for any inquiries and the advisors will distribute questions as necessary.

Personal Counselling

At times academic issues may get confused with personal problems (relationship issues, death in the family, etc.). We have a team of counsellors that just work with engineering students. You can find out more about them here Counselling Appointments | Current Students | University of Waterloo

To book an appointment with one of the counsellors, call 519-888-4096. For those who are unable to call due to accessibility concerns, please email counselling@uwaterloo.ca indicating that you are unable to book by phone.

Eng Wellness

The Faculty of Engineering (FoE) Community Wellness Program was created to support and promote the well-being of our community throughout the year. They have a ton of great resources on their website: Undergraduate Students | Engineering Wellness Program | University of Waterloo
