Centre for Mental Health Research and Treatment Responding to COVID-19

Update as of March 17, 2020

COVID-19 continues to change rapidly across the world and we want to take steps to limit the spread and risks of the disease in our community. With this goal in mind, the University of Waterloo has suspended all in-person course-related activities and is asking all UW employees, faculty and students to work from home.

For the CMHRT, this means that we are unable to provide clinical services, including assessment and individual and group therapy. Psychological services at the CMHRT are closed from March 16 until April 6, 2020, with the status to be reviewed again at that time. Since we are unable to process Intakes, we will not take new referrals for service during this time.

We truly regret that we are unable to provide mental health services at this stressful and uncertain time. If you are in crisis, feeling unsafe, or worried that you might hurt yourself or others, the following online or phone resources may be of help:

Good2Talk 1-866-925-5454

Here 24/7 1-844 437 3247

Crisis Services Canada – 1833 456 4566 or by text 45645

This is an extraordinary situation and I appreciate your understanding. We will let you know as soon as we are able to resume clinical services at the CMHRT.

If you have questions or concerns, please email the CMHRT Director, Dr. Marjory Phillips at marjory.phillips@uwaterloo.ca
