Clinical graduate students were strong representatives of the Department of Psychology at this year’s 7th Annual Conference of the Canadian Association of Cognitive & Behavioural Therapies held in mid-May in Ottawa, ON.
There were a number of presentations by faculty and current and recent students highlighting the research in the Department of Psychology. For example, department members were front and centre at the “Beyond Cognitive Distortions: Advancing CBT Models with New Insights from Basic Research on Memory, Emotion, and the Self”.
One of our students, Jessica Dupasquier, who presented on “Mitigating the Risks of Confiding? The Role of Self-Compassion in the Disclosure of Past Distressing Experiences” found the experience of attending this important conference very beneficial. “Knowing what instructive workshops and panels were being offered at the conference, I was happy to see that our research symposium was so well-attended” said Ms Dupasquier. “It was a pleasure to present to a group of clinicians interested in the basic research behind clinical work.”
