Choir Divas: From Opera to Bollywood
Join the UW Choir in a moving and energetic program of music for the cinema and stage, ranging from Italian operas, including La Traviata and Il Trovatore to musicals -- Les Miserable, Into the Woods, South Pacific, and Candide. Join the choir in singing selections from Rogers and Hammerstein's The Sound of Music. Finally, be there to see our first ever foray into the music of Bollywood!

The Western Collective is a group of faculty members from the University of Western Ontario. They will be performing the Trio by Rochberg, and a selection of other pieces.

Well known South Indian percussionist Dr. Trichy Sankaran will perform some classic Indian music. He will also talk about the subject of ‘time keeping’ and ‘time marking’, giving a number of examples from diverse music cultures from across the world. Winner of 24 piano competitions, Mauro Bertoli is a well-known Italian/Canadian pianist who is currently based at Carleton University in Ottawa. He is both a solo performer and an accomplished chamber musician. Music in this concert will include two "Intermezzo" pieces composed by Brahms, Poulenc's "Trois Novelette", and Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue".
Well known local performers Mary-Catherine McNinch-Pazzano (jazz vocalist) and Mike Grace (bass) will perform a selection of classic jazz music.

Renowned local musician Kevin Ramessar plays classical guitar. Music from classical, jazz, folk & popular idioms, re-imagined for six strings. See the Ramessar website for more details about his music, including his newly released CD, Snow on Snow.
Conrad Grebel's Voice Instructor Stephanie Kramer will be performing with reknowned mezzo-soprano Jennifer Enns Modolo pieces from the renaissance to baroque eras of music. Joined with guitarist Magdalena Tomsinska, they will take you on a journey from England to France to Italy with music composed by Dowland, Kapsberger and more.
Known for the passion and brilliance of their performances, Duo Concertante (Nancy Dahn, violin, and Timothy Steeves, piano) will be performing two Schubert pieces and Incarnation, a specially commissioned piece by Chan Ka Nin.
