We have 8 different Chamber Ensemble groups this term, playing a wide variety of pieces.

  • Sammartini Trio Sonata
  • Schubert Piano trio no. 2
  • Thomas Arne Trio Sonata

To aid in maintaining covid protocols, we are splitting the players into two separate concerts.

During Spring Term 2021, the Balinese Gamelan Ensemble, Instrumental Chamber Ensembles, and the UWaterloo Choirs online continued to meet.  For our listening pleasure, they compiled videos of a few pieces.  The video will premiere on Wednesday, August 11th at 12:30pm and remain online for a few weeks.

This concert is a collaboration between mezzo-soprano Michelle Lafferty and Pianist Kimly Mengyin Wan.  The premiere will be released on February 3 and will continue to be available on the Grebel You-tube Channel.

Musicologist Dr. Katherine Kennedy Steiner will join Conrad Grebel University College’s faculty as Assistant Professor of Music, starting July 1, 2018. Teaching a range of courses from broad musicology surveys, to music of the Renaissance and medieval eras, to church music and worship, Steiner will engage with diverse groups of students across the University of Waterloo campus. She will also direct the College’s Chapel Choir.

Music Builds Community at UW

Students at the University of Waterloo are an incredibly diverse group, with interests spanning math, health, engineering, science, environment, and arts. Many of these students have spent hundreds of hours of their life learning a musical instrument and, instead of giving up their love of music while at university, they have found a collective place to express it. The orchestra@uwaterloo is a full-sized symphony orchestra whose players are students, staff, faculty, and alumni of Waterloo.
