Michael & Elizabeth Lepock

Elizabeth and Michael Lepock will be performing alternating solos from Austrian composer Hugo Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch.  Anna Ronai, a well known local pianist and our piano instructor will accompany them.

Anna Ronai, pianist

Hugo Wolf’s Italienisches Liederbuch (Italian Song Book) is an album of forty-six songs, setting poet Paul Heyse’s German translations of Italian poems and folk songs. Known for his deep commitment to creating as perfect a partnership as possible between poetry and musical setting, Wolf composed a unique gem of voice-piano collaboration in each song in his Italiensches Liederbuch. Acclaimed baritone and soprano Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf began the tour-de-force tradition of presenting this entire set of delightful miniatures, alternating regularly between soprano and baritone.

Today, Michael and Elizabeth Lepock, baritone-soprano husband and wife team, are thrilled to begin sharing their journey with this incredible work. Their original intent was to present a longer program, including close to half of the songs in the larger work. However, because shorter programs were made necessary by pandemic-related changes to Grebel’s noon recital series, today they are presenting a more miniature recital.
