Spring 2019 Ensemble auditions are open for registration. 

In Spring term we offer the Balinese Gamelan, Instrumental Chamber groups, orchestra@uwaterloo, and the University Choir.
The orchestra needs 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 clarinets, & 2 bassoons 4 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, and a tuba

The Balinese Gamelan is meant to be heard outdoors, so please join us at Waterloo Town Square for a terrific evening concert.  Free admission.  This UWaterloo Ensemble is directed by prominent gamelan composer I Dewa Made Suparta and Dr. Maisie Sum.  Stay after the concert and try an instrument or two.

The human voice is an incredible instrument, not only capable of carrying text, but also showcasing many different sounds to convey emotion or create atmosphere.

Students participating in the Spring 2019 Music Studio program perform music they have studied this term. 

Everyone welcome to come and hear these talented students!

Four chamber groups will play a delightful selection of classical music.  Included this term are pieces by Mozart and Peterson.  Free admission, reception to follow.

Choral Ensembles are open to all University of Waterloo students.   You may take these for credit (.25 units on top of regular course load) or as an extracurricular activity.  See our Ensemble page for details, and to see which ensemble would suit your musical tastes and abilities.

Join us for a University of Waterloo Balinese Gamelan Ensemble mini-concert and demonstration on Friday, September 6th at noon.  The Peter Russell Rock Garden is a lovely place to enjoy even a few minutes of music.  Stay after the concert and try a few instruments yourself.  

This event is weather dependent.  Please check the website the day of the concert.

Johannes Brahms composed Piano Sonata No. 3 with a masterful combination of free Romantic spirit and strict classical structure when he was 20 years old.  This Piano Sonata is infused with the motif's from Beethoven's 5th Symphony during the first, third, and fourth movements.
