UWaterloo Balinese Gamelan and Grebel Community Gamelan
with Balinese Artist-in-Residence I Dewa Made Suparta
On the island of Bali, Indonesia there is a plethora of musical ensembles called gamelan, the local term for a set of instruments made primarily of bronze or bamboo. The UWaterloo Department of Music at Conrad Grebel University College is home to a gamelan semara dana consisting of bronze gongs and metallophones, drums, and bamboo flutes.
Reaching out: a unique exploration of cross-cultural and inter-cultural community song. The University choir will sing works from within our own community, originating in Estonia, Iran, Senegal, New Zealand, and Bali. Join us for a unique choral experience.
Enjoy a break from winter, with delightful jazz classics. Reception to follow. Suitable for all ages.

Chiaroscuro: Contrasts in Light and Dark. The University of Waterloo Chamber Choir sings music spanning five centuries, by composers R. Murray Schafer, James MacMillan, Joaquin des Prez, Carlo Gesualdo, Dolly Parton and others!
Enjoy a wide selection of classical music, from 6 different chamber groups. Includes one brass group as well. Bach, Bruch, and Weber are among the composers that will be featured.
Joint Honours, Music and Fine Arts student, Caroline Bordignon will perform her final graduation recital for Music 428. She will be featuring the work of Beethoven, Ravel, Messiaen, and Bordignon. All welcome.
