Through composition, teaching, community work, and membership in the electronic arts trio FINGER, Cameron’s activity has focused on musical action, identity, and empowerment by demonstrating sensitivity to the definition of musical roles, to media, and to the importance of heritage in musical reception. Recent work involves designing and composing for performer-computer interfaces that capture instrumental gesture. Cam is happy to be contributing to the cultural life of his adopted home town of Owen Sound for the first time by creating an installation for Canadian Spirit 2012: The 100th Anniversary of Tom Thomson’s First Trip to Algonquin Park, organized by the Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
