A native of Kitchener-Waterloo, Debbie earned an Honours Bachelor of Music in Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University with a double major in Violin and French Horn. Summer studies included the Banff Centre of Fine Arts and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. After a year of post-grad at McGill University, Debbie spent 3 years in Montreal playing Principal Horn with L'Orchestre des Jeunes du Quebec. Her professional career began in 1989 at the Stratford Shakespearean Festival followed by 10 years in Toronto playing in the pit orchestra for The Phantom of the Opera. She has played with The Toronto Symphony, The Montreal Symphony, The National Arts Centre Orchestra, The Canadian Opera Company, The National Ballet of Canada, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Toronto's Esprit Orchestra, Orchestra London, The Hamilton Philharmonic and The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony. Studio work includes movies, Imax films, TV shows and jingles. A tour to Brazil with Rob McConnell's 'The Boss Brass' in 1998 was a highlight. A regular member of the K-W Symphony since 2003, Debbie has also taught french horn at Wilfrid Laurier University, K-8 music at Carmel New Church School, plays the organ at the Carmel New Church and maintains a private studio in french horn, elementary piano and violin.
