The Waterloo Eye Institute will help provide seamless eye and vision care – from wellness to rehabilitation – for patients of all ages.
With your help, we will:
Bring eye and vision care to patients, when they need it
We’ll advance eye and vision care services by
- increasing access to specialized care in growing areas like vision therapy, concussion, myopia control, and dry eye disease, and
- leveraging our expertise in imaging, ocular disease, contact lenses and low vision rehabilitation.
We’ll build a diagnostic imaging and reading centre thatwill
- create a vital hub for diagnosing eye disease, and
- allow patients in remote or under-serviced areas to receive care via telehealth technology.
Bring new techniques and treatments from the lab to the clinic
We’ll create an ocular imaging research centre where researchers, using the eye as the window to the brain, will focus on understanding, diagnosing and treating conditions like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and stroke.
Train a new generation of optometrists
We’ll provide unique learning opportunities for students to work side-by-side with other health care professionals, preparing optometrists to meet their patients’ needs, no matter where they practice in Canada.
