Krista Kelly
Biography
Dr. Krista Kelly is an Assistant Professor with the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of Waterloo. She completed a BA in Psychology at the University of New Brunswick, and a MA and PhD in Psychology at York University in the Centre for Vision Research. Following the completion of a postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Kelly Directed the Vision and Neurodevelopment Lab at the Retina Foundation of the Southwest in Texas.
Dr. Kelly is interested in how the developing brain is affected by atypical experiences early in life, such as visual deprivation. Her current research investigates the underlying causes of slow reading and motor impairments in children with common pediatric eye conditions, including amblyopia, strabismus, and cataract. Her research findings will guide the development of more effective screening and interventions to prevent or improve reading and motor issues in children with pediatric eye conditions.
