Randilynne Urslak’s (Rx2023) Reflection
Growing up in a small town, I never felt comfortable talking about women’s health. My monthly routine consisted of hiding my tampon on the way to the bathroom and making sure nobody was in the aisle at the store before I grabbed a box of pads to purchase.
Recognizing that there is a gender gap in pharmacy leadership spurred the Waterloo School of Pharmacy into action.
As an institution that pushes boundaries and disrupts the status quo, the Women in Pharmacy Leadership (WIPL) program developed naturally with the intent to push the profession forward. After its inaugural year, the program has much to look back on.
Our Waterloo Pharmacy leadership team was back on the road for the first time in three years since the pandemic, making trips to Ottawa and Sudbury, to meet with preceptors, co-op employers, alumni, and stakeholders.
“Connecting with our pharmacy and wider health-care community is incredibly important to our experiential program’s success. We continue to thrive and graduate outstanding pharmacists due to these relationships and are incredibly grateful for our stakeholders, preceptors and student organizers support,” says Andrea Edginton, Hallman Director at the School.
All proceeds will be directed to initiatives that enhance the educational and professional development of pharmacy students here at Waterloo.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Office of Indigenous Relations.
