Pharmacy5in5 Webinar - Osteoporosis

In this one-hour Zoom Q+A session, Rosemary Killeen and Teri Charrois, authors of the Pharmacy5in5 module on osteoporosis, will:

  • answer your questions about the new Canadian osteoporosis guidelines with an emphasis on updates
  • highlight take-aways from part one of our two-part osteoporosis series
  • share best practices for osteoporosis consults with patients
  • get your input on what to include in part two of the osteoporosis series

The speakers will answer questions submitted in advance and during the webinar. Viewers are invited to submit questions when completing registration for the event.

The talk will be recorded and shared with event registrants and subscribers after the event. A link to attend the event will be shared with registrants via email closer to the event date.

Speaker bios:

Teri Charrois BScPharm, MSc, EdD (she/her)
Dr. Teri Charrois is the Associate Dean of Practice Innovation and Professor of Teaching at UBC Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Upon graduation from the University of Alberta with her pharmacy degree, Teri completed an Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency and then practiced at the Grey Nuns hospital. After many years in practice she returned to the UofA to complete a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology. In 2010, Teri moved to Australia where she taught at the School of Pharmacy, Curtin University prior to returning to the University of Alberta in 2014 as the Academic Lead of Practice Innovation.

It was at this time that she also started her clinical practice with the Northern Alberta Osteoporosis Program as a pharmacist and researcher. Teri provides care to patients with osteoporosis in a multidisciplinary clinic along with a rheumatologist, dietician, physiotherapist and occupational therapist. Teri recently joined the Faculty at the University of British Columbia with a mandate to help move pharmacist practice forward in BC.

Rosemary M. Killeen, BScPhm, PGCert, RPh (she/her)

Rosemary Killeen is Director, Lifelong Learning at the School of Pharmacy, University of Waterloo and Editorial and Operations Lead for the Pharmacy 5in5 project team.

A graduate of the University of Toronto Faculty of Pharmacy, Rosemary also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health (Health Promotion) from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

She has written on osteoporosis and related topics for health professional and consumer publications and been an invited speaker at public education events for Osteoporosis Canada in Ottawa and Waterloo.
