The Pharmasave Business Competition awards a third-year Waterloo School of Pharmacy student team a $5,000 prize for an innovative business model in the field of pharmacy. Students work in teams to develop a startup that solves a current health care issue aligned with Ontario health care regulations and pitch their ideas to a panel of pharmacists, entrepreneurs and financial advisors.

GRADflix, hosted by University of Waterloo’s Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs, gives graduate students the opportunity to showcase their research by creating a one-minute video or animation. This year, Waterloo Pharmacy MSc student, Norman Ly, won the 2024 People’s Choice award for his submission: Immune system: How does cancer turn it off?.

Waterloo Pharmacy PhD student receives graduate student scholarship from Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario

This past January, the Ontario Pharmacists Association (OPA) held their annual conference with exciting talks and an award ceremony. Three winners from Waterloo Pharmacy were recognized for their achievements in the pharmacy profession.

Rui Su and company MedMe listed among Waterloo community innovators and entrepreneurs on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list.

Dr. Paul Malik (BSc’16, PharmD’16, PhD’21) is the 2022 School of Pharmacy Alumni Achievement Award recipient. This award recognizes and celebrates pharmacy alumni who impact the health and wellbeing of society through professional work and/or public service contribution.

The Janet E.A. McDougall Graduate Scholarship in Pharmacy was awarded for the first time this past June at the annual Graduate Awards Celebration.

This award celebrates the life of Janet McDougall, a proud Waterloo alum, successful entrepreneur who founded McDougall Scientific Ltd. and a passionate supporter of graduate students.

Professor Nardine Nakhla, clinical lecturer at the Waterloo School of Pharmacy, has been inspiring students for the last 15 years. Students and fellow colleagues recognize Nakhla’s passion and commitment to teaching, service and research, and know her to go above and beyond for her students. Described as engaging, supportive and inspirational, Professor Nakhla is the 2023 recipient of the University of Waterloo’s highly prestigious Distinguished Teaching Award.
