Fall 2025: A FemPhys Review

The fall term brings along a new cohort of young physicists. For the FemPhys team, this is always an exciting time as we prepare to welcome the incoming batch of first years. We collaborated with the Faculty of Science orientation team’s Successful Scientists event to introduce the incoming class to FemPhys.

We started off the fall term by hosting an ice cream social to welcome all the new students. Throughout the term, FemPhys hosted additional social events like our monthly physics movie nights to foster a sense of community amongst the student body. Nothing like some popcorn and a nerdy film to make for a relaxing night!

We held our beloved Queer & Trans Meetup at IQC this term, where queer people in the physics community can connect over pizza and board games. We returned to IQC soon after for a board games night, an event students voted for at the beginning of the term.

As the term came to an end, FemPhys once again held our highly anticipated Study Café event to boost students’ morale (and daily caffeine intake) as they prepared for their final exams. This term’s Study Café was our biggest one yet!

Over the course of the term, we were delighted to see new faces in our room, PHY 104. As the year comes to an end, we’re excited to see how our community has evolved. Looking back at 2025, FemPhys has had some incredible events with our growing community. Exciting things await in 2026, and FemPhys can’t wait to show the rest of our community what we have in store. We look forward to another wonderful term of promoting feminist principles and encouraging equity, diversity, and inclusion in the physics community.
