Physics & Astronomy Thesis Defence Request Form

MSc Students

• Read through MSc Thesis Defence Procedures in the Science Graduate Office SharePoint and in LEARN (Physics Graduate Community > Content > Program Milestones > Thesis Defence).
• Must submit request a minimum of 5 weeks before the defence date.

PhD Students

• Read through MSc Thesis Defence Procedures in the Science Graduate Office SharePoint and in LEARN (Physics Graduate Community > Content > Program Milestones > Thesis Defence).
• Must submit request a minimum of 7 weeks before the defence date.
• External Examiner form must be submitted to Science Graduate Office before you can schedule your defence.

Thesis Blackout Dates and Holidays:

You cannot hold your defence during university closures/holidays or "blackout dates". For up-to-date information, check the Science Graduate Office SharePoint pages linked above. During blackout dates you may still submit this form and start the scheduling process.

• Spring term: Typically ~2 weeks from mid-late August to the beginning of September.

• Fall term: Typically ~2 weeks from mid-December to early January.

• Winter term: Typically ~1 during mid-late April.
