Resources

Accessibility initiatives are being guided by several key resources that provide requirements, recommendations, and direction as to how to achieve disability inclusion effectively. DISCo is using the following documents as guiding principles for their work.

Waterloo does not see disability inclusion as a set of check boxes that need to be filled according to AODA requirements. Creating an accessible University for all, across every touchpoint, requires a strategic, systematic approach that involves integrated planning, transparency, and collaboration. There is an intersectionality in accessibility that spans across teaching, learning, working, and living at Waterloo.

DISCo is leveraging the insights of other committees and supporting their work in turn, as implementation of accessibility initiatives occurs. The following initiatives outline accessibility recommendations across digital learning; the overall student experience; and equity, diversity, and inclusion.
