The School of Public Health Sciences (SPHS) is delighted to be hosting the Research and Practice in Health Sciences Conference. The conference will take place Friday, April 5, 2024 in a hybrid format.
Registration is not required to attend the in-person conference. However, tickets must be purchased in advance if you would like to attend the lunch.

About the conference
The aim of this student-led conference is to expose current undergraduate and graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to a range of career paths, including research and practice related to public health. The conference will offer an opportunity for the community to reflect on skills needed for health research and practice and provide graduate students and postdoctoral fellows with presentation experience.
The conference is open to all UWaterloo graduate students conducting research or working in public health, and all SPHS undergraduate students, faculty and staff.
All undergraduate thesis (HLTH 432) student poster presentations are automatically included in the conference.

- March 8, 2024 – Notification of review results (accepted/not accepted)
- March 29, 2024 – Noon deadline for purchasing lunch tickets. Available here

- Oral presenters: Thursday March 28 at 4 pm, power point slides due
- Graduate poster presenters:
- Printed posters due Wednesday March 27 at 12 pm, poster .pdf due
- Visual slide posters due Thursday March 28 at 4 pm, power point of 1-2 minutes

Lunch tickets must be purchased by noon on Friday, March 29 so we can place our food order with Federation Hall.
Lunch - regular price: $15 plus Eventbrite fees
Limited subsidized tickets are available at the following prices:
- SPHS undergraduate attendees: $5.00 plus Eventbrite fees (Subsidized by Applied Health Sciences Endowment Fund and the School of Public Health Sciences)
- UWaterloo graduate student attendees: $7.00 plus Eventbrite fees (Subsidized by Graduate Students Endowment Fund)
Attendance at the a.m and p.m sessions is FREE and does not require a ticket.
The lunch will be a selection of sandwiches:
- Italian Panini – Soppressata, ham, prosciutto and Mortadella served on panini loaf with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and mozzarella
- Montreal Smoked Meat– Sliced smoked meat, mayonnaise Dijon mustard and pickles layered on a soft baguette
- Vegetarian (25%) Balsamic Portobello – Marinated and seared portobello mushrooms, goat cheese, roasted red peppers and Baba Ganoush served on a ciabatta bun
- Classic chicken salad (Halal) – Diced grilled chicken mixed with mayonnaise and celery topped with shredded lettuce and tomato served on a Village Bakery bun
