The University of Waterloo has been ranked among the top five universities in Canada for subjects related to public health, according to the 2024 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) University Subject Rankings.
The rankings evaluated 55 subject areas across 1,900 universities in 96 countries based on research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality and academic awards. The University of Waterloo is listed among the top 200 universities globally for 39 of the 55 specific disciplines measured.
The School of Public Health Sciences was the first trans-disciplinary department in Canada dedicated to health promotion and disease prevention. It is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for the Bachelor of Public Health, Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and Master of Public Health programs.
