A minor is a secondary area of study that's intended to provide breadth to a student's undergraduate degree. Minors offered by faculties are normally available to all students.
If you’re interested in the ways the brain, behavior and policy come together to inform approaches to preventing and managing addictions and mental health problems, the Addictions, Mental Health and Policy minor might be exactly what you're looking for. You'll examine diverse topics including vaping trends among Canadian youth, suicide prevention in Indigenous communities, neural circuits underlying “bad” habits, biological embedding of early life adversity, and public policy around alcohol and tobacco products.

How do I apply?
If you're a current student interested in pursuing the Addictions, Mental Health and Policy minor, see your academic advisor after first year to actively start planning your course sequence. A completed Plan Modification Form must be submitted to your advisor before the end of your 3B term.
If you're a future student, you should apply to a four-year program at Waterloo. At the end of your first year, you can declare the Addictions, Mental Health and Policy Minor minor.
