Happiness in Retirement

What is happiness in retirement? How do the usual components of most people’s happiness—work, relationships, pleasure, meaning—change during retirement compared to previous eras of one’s life? How does the well-being of the body change and impact one’s experience of happiness in retirement? How does one’s mind-set—including optimism versus pessimism—alter during the transition into retirement? Join us for an exploration of these vital subjects of interest to us all!

Brian Orend has been a philosophy professor at the University of Waterloo since 1998. He’s the author of 8 books, and editor of 2 more. He teaches a course on happiness at the University, and has written an acclaimed book about being happy while having a chronic health condition:
Seizure the Day: Happiness Despite Illness

This session promises to be engaging and inspiring, offering valuable perspectives for anyone searching to experience greater happiness in their retirement years.
