Congratulations to Dr. Amelia Clarke for her recent SSHRC Insight Grant competition funding award! Her research project entitled, “Cross-sector Social Partnerships for the Implementation of Community Sustainability Strategies: A Study on the Relationships between Collaborative Structures and Outcomes” will receive funding over the next 5 years for the total amount of $330,233.
Summary of the project:
In Canada, over 1000 community sustainability plans have been created by local governments, most in the last few years. The time has come to implement these plans. For many sustainability topics, a local government cannot achieve sufficient progress on its own. By creating partnerships with other organizations in the local community, much more can be achieved. This research project determines the most effective way to design cross-sector partnerships to achieve these sustainability goals, thus ensuring progress on reducing GHG emissions, improving air quality, increasing solid waste recovery rates, increasing green spaces, enabling a green economy, etc.
The main objective is to develop and test theoretical frameworks on the relationships between collaborative strategic plans, implementation structure features (and configurations) and two types of outcomes.
