Dr. Frantisak addressing the group of MEB students

World renowned pioneer and leader in sustainability, Dr. Frantisak visited the University of Waterloo this week to speak to Masters of Environment and Business (MEB) students.

Among his numerous achievements, Dr. Frantisak led the Canadian delegation to the ISO Technical Committee on Environment, which resulted in the ISO 14001 standard; he was Chair of the Environmental Committee of the Canadian Council for International Business, as well as the Canada/US Relations Subcommittee on Environment; he led the establishment of Ontario’s Air Quality Index; and, as Head of Environment at Norada, published the company’s, and Canada’s first ever Corporate Environment Report. In 2002, Dr. Frantisak was awarded the Order of Canada for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of sustainable development.

In my view, Frank is the person who has contributed more to the advancement of sustainable development in North America than any other person, particularly in reference to the business community.

Dr. Frantisak spoke to the MEB students about his sustainability initiatives through different industry sectors in Canada. He also shared his advice for solving complex sustainability challenges,

You can’t do it all yourself, you have to get others to help you, others with the same view and opinion.
