Jason Thistlethwaite speaks to CBC about Canada's approach to flood management

The recent flooding in British Columbia is another reminder that Canada’s approach to flood management requires significant reform. Flooding is Canada’s most common and costly hazard because almost 800,000 homes are located in areas at high risk. This risk is only going to increase unless governments communicate flood risk to Canadians, significantly increase funding for local mitigation and coordinate governance arrangements between emergency management and climate change adaptation stakeholders.
