SEED celebrates our newest PhD cohort

Tuesday, June 13, 2023

This afternoon, the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development will celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our 2023 graduates. Among this group of individuals are five doctoral (PhD) graduands, who have proven their extraordinary level of academic aptitude and become subject-matter experts in areas related to sustainability management. Some of our newest doctoral alumni include:  Dr. Truzaar Dordi; Dr. Sadaf Mollaei; Dr. Sisir Pradhan; and Dr. Francisco Felix Martin del Campo.

Dr. Truzaar Dordi

Dr. Truzaar Dordi’s research explores the interdisciplinary nexus of climate finance, energy policy, and sustainability transitions. Specifically, his research examines the role of capital markets in low-carbon transitions. His research can be seen in multiple journals including the Journal of Management and Sustainability, Journal of Cleaner Production and Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions. Dordi currently holds an Aspiration 2030 Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Victoria (Canada) and will be joining the University of York (UK) as a Lecturer in Sustainability Management.

Dr. Sadaf Mollaei

Dr. Sadaf Mollaei’s research focuses on promoting sustainable behaviours, with a particular focus on sustainable food and eating behaviours. Through using both qualitative and quantitative methodology her research is the intersection of sustainability, marketing and public health.  She is most interested in studying the promotion of sustainability using interventions and sustainable marketing. Her research can be seen in the International Journal of Higher Education, British Food Journal and Sustainability. Mollaei will continue teaching and doing research in her subject matter expertise.

Dr. Sisir Pradhan

Dr. Sisir Pradhan has a deep interest in social-ecological systems thinking and its application in understanding resource governance, societal engagement with uncertainties, and social-ecological wellbeing concerns of the poor.  Pradhan has developed a novel conceptual framework of social-ecological system oriented dried fish value chain as a part of his doctoral research.  He has empirically tested it along the northern Bay of Bengal coast, including Odisha and West Bengal. Examples of this research can be seen in journals such as Coasts, Life Below Water and Current Research in Environmental Sustainability. Pradhan would like to work in the academic and policy arena and contribute cutting-edge research on contemporary problems involving the environment and society.

Dr. Francisco Felix Martin del Campo

Dr. Francisco Felix Martin del Campo’s research focuses on understanding the fundamental relationship between society and the environment, recognizing this as a crucial aspect in achieving the global UN Sustainable Development Goals. His work encompasses the study of natural resource dynamics within complex systems at various spatiotemporal scales, with a particular focus on socio-metabolic research. This research can be seen in numerous journal articles including the Journal of Industrial Ecology and Frontier in Climate.

Francisco's dedication to advancing knowledge in the field of sustainability has led him to secure a position at the prestigious Laboratory for Human-Environment Relations in Urban Systems (HERUS) at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland. In this new role, he will delve into the dynamics of urban metabolism, studying strategies and developments from a sustainable perspective.

Once again, Congratulations!
