About 50 people from the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development rubbed elbows at a Meet-and-Greet held on campus recently. It was a rare chance for students, faculty and staff from across the department to leave their roles behind and get to know each other on a more personal level.
The event has been organized by the Waterloo Environment and Business Student (WEBS) for the past three years. This year, they partnered with the Student Association of International Development (SAID) so that both of SEED's undergraduate programs would be represented in the planning process.
Sophie Sanniti, the President of WEBS, found that "this event created a great atmosphere for students and professors to really have a chance to speak to each other": professors told stories about their days in university, and students had the opportunity to ask for advice about upcoming milestones. The group was also able to discuss the future of SEED and their visions for the department.
Sanniti says the two student organizations will continue to plan this signature event as way for students and faculty to get acquainted right at the start of the term.
