Albert Jiang, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Waterloo, has been awarded the prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship for his research on helping small island states adapt to climate change. His project, conducted with Dr. Simron Singh and Dr. Kumaraswamy Ponnambalam, focuses on understanding hydrological impacts and social consequences of climate change in these regions. Jiang aims to build a comprehensive climate database, evaluate dependencies between natural events, and reveal connections between hydrologic components and social practices, contributing significantly to the U.N.'s sustainable development goals.
