Transitioning from high school to university on the right foot with Waterloo Ready.

Mischa H., 1A, AFM student
My name is Mischa, and I am a 1A student in the Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) program. Making the transition from high school to university initially seemed stressful and very overwhelming. Not many of my high school friends were entering the same program as me and I felt uncertain as I did not know what to expect going into university.

Luckily, the university offered the Waterloo Ready program from July to August, and I was ready to start my first year after completing it! The Waterloo Ready experience allowed me to ask questions, learn insider tips for my program, prepare for my career, gain advice on how to seamlessly enter residence, and how to get involved on campus. The program allowed me to feel confident and not have to worry that I am missing information or that I am not having my questions answered.

Even though I'm no longer in the Waterloo Ready experience, I still refer to the resources provided in the program, such as the time management schedule templates and the 3P Strategy (prepare, participate, and practice) to maximize my learning in each class. Being exposed to campus resources and having the ability to talk to upper-year students created ease when entering university!
