Time management is crucial in achieving a work-life balance!

Jolie, AFM student
Hi everyone! I’m Jolie, a 3A student in the Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) program at the School of Accounting and Finance (SAF). University life is certainly busy, but it doesn’t mean that we don’t have any spare time to do other important things, for example, reflect on ourselves!

Looking back to where it all started two years ago, I can’t pretend that I don’t feel amazing about myself being able to go this far because I certainly do lol. University life is completely different from the previous 12 years in school, so the transition period for me was quite a struggle at first. Later on, I realized that there were certain things that I could have done differently to make the transition much smoother.

If I could say one thing to my first-year self, I believe it would be, ”time management skills are crucial so practice them daily!” I used to feel so worn out at the beginning of my first year because I couldn’t manage my time properly. I, later on, started applying some methods to improve my time management skills such as making to-do lists, checking off the things I’ve done, and setting up goals to motivate myself. These actions have helped me a lot to achieve a work-life balance. So, to everyone going to university soon, start practicing your time management skill today because it’s never too early to start something.
