It was an honour to represent the School of Accounting and Finance and win first place in the STRIVE Conference’s national case competition at the senior tier level among several other teams across the country.

The STRIVE Conference provides a unique opportunity for accounting students to apply their knowledge and learn from industry leaders about what it takes to succeed in the field. Our team networked with renowned company executives and participated in the case competition. Our challenge was to come up with a sales strategy for PepsiCo. in a short amount of time and pitch our solution immediately.

Based on our prior experiences, our team decided to delegate tasks according to each person’s strengths. It was important for everyone to speak up and share their thoughts, so we questioned each other, shared feedback, and came up with a good solution. With teamwork and thorough research, we entered the competition well-prepared. Vivian and Tony (my teammates), and I worked very hard up until the last minute before it was time to present.

The judges enjoyed our analysis and presentation which gave us an edge over other teams and landed us the first-place prize. Apart from the case competition, the best opportunities at the STRIVE Conference included the networking session, connecting with students from other universities, and overall learning exposure.
