COVID-19 has dramatically changed how students will learn at university. Here are 3 tips on how to succeed and make the most of this new environment:

  1. It is more important than ever to build relationships
Relationship building should never stop. Leverage online communication tools to build strong relationships with professors and peers. Attend online events, use your camera during lectures, host study groups, ask for feedback and go to office hours. Doing this will help you engage in your classes and community and will enhance your learning and the learning of others.

  2. Time management will make or break your term
Managing your schedule is crucial. Follow a highly structured schedule with dedicated times for studying, watching lectures and enjoying spare time. This will make it easier to manage your workload and stay focused on learning.

  3. Understand why the content you are learning matters…and how it has changed
Professors teach things for a reason - learn why these concepts are important and how you will apply them in school and the workforce. Understand how the course structure, learning objectives and evaluations will change for online learning. This will provide you with an enhanced perspective on the course.
