Waterloo was the first university in Canada to offer co-op in accounting and finance. Employers expect students to be ready to perform on the job. You begin the co-op job search process in Year 2, which means that you must be able to successfully demonstrate workplace skills. As an aspiring profession with ambitious goals to take on leadership positions in accounting and finance, you need to be able to understand, apply and integrate skills, knowledge and professional qualities before you graduate.

The SAF curriculum is uniquely designed to be delivered in a way that gives you what you need at the right time as you progress through your co-op pathway and launch your career. The School offers specific industry-related courses that can give you an edge when applying for your first co-op job, and as you progress through the program, you’ll take a series of specialized integrative courses that require you to think like a leader. In some specialized classes you’ll present recommendations to real senior managers for review. Opportunities can include an intensive experiential learning opportunity that combines real money management and mentorship by industry pros.
SAF programs are truly focused on integration and merge diverse experiential opportunities for an incomparable student experience.
