Applications, Proposals, Contracts, Agreements, and Licenses – Research
Preamble:
Procedure 1A functions as a delegation of the authority of the Board of Governors to bind the University. The purpose of Procedure 1A is to identify those individuals who are in receipt of delegated authority and who are accountable for its exercise. Individuals who exercise signing authority, as outlined below, ought to ensure that relevant internal processes have been undertaken and satisfied prior to execution of an Application, Proposal, Contract, Agreement, and/or License.
The level of authority required to enter into applications, proposals, contracts, agreements and licenses relating to the research enterprise of the University and to bind the University to the terms thereof shall depend on the dollar amount of such documents.
Persons designated under this procedure are expected not to exercise their signing authority in circumstances where conflicts of interest exist or could be seen to exist. In addition, they are expected to inform their immediate supervisor when such circumstances exist. (Refer to Policy 69 - Conflict of Interest.)

(i)The authorized signatories mentioned in paragraph D of this Procedure 1A may delegate their authority to other University employees from time to time in connection with the following classes of documents:a single research application or proposal of up to $500,000, or
(ii)a single research contract or agreement of up to and including $500,000, or
(iii)a single license or agreement with respect to technology transfer of up to and including $500,000.
As at the date of approval of this Procedure 1A, such authority has been delegated to the following:
