Biography
Catherine Dong (she/they) is an undergraduate student at the University of Waterloo, majoring in mathematics and exploring a breadth of courses in psychology, economics, and social development studies. As a part of her fellowship with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO), she delivered a talk on youth engagement in the current political and socioeconomic context at the AMO 2023 Annual General Meeting and Conference in London, Ontario.
During the 2022 Waterloo municipal election, Catherine managed the campaign of a 22-year-old candidate, securing him a close second place out of four candidates. She previously served as a full-time executive of the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association, where she supported governance reform and policy-based advocacy, as well as on the board of Waterloo Co-operative Residence Inc.
She has a passion for community service and developing inclusive, durable systems, with particular interest in building livable, human-scale urban environments.
Catherine is working toward her BMath at the University of Waterloo.
