Professor David Porreca is an Associate Professor in the department of Classical Studies, as well as the Co-Director of the Undergraduate Medieval Studies program. His research interests involve Medieval intellectual history, especially the reception of the pagan Classical tradition in the Christian Middle Ages. His most recent publication, in collaboration with other University of Waterloo alumni, is an annotated English translation of Marsilio Ficino's polemical work De Christiana religione.
Prof. Porreca completed a BA in Medieval Studies from the University of Waterloo, and an MA at the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. He completed his PhD at the Warburg Institute at the University of London. He has been a faculty member at the University of Waterloo for the last 20 years, beginning as an Assistant Professor in 2003.
