Professor Marc Aucoin is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He specializes in Synthetic Biology/Biological Engineering, particularly in the production of complex biologics: from proteins (antibodies and other immune-system related proteins), to DNA, to virus-like particles, viruses and viral vectors.
Prof. Aucoin completed a BASc in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering, both from the University of Waterloo. He completed his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal. He has been a member of faculty at the University of Waterloo for the last 17 years, beginning as an Assistant Professor in 2007, and is cross-appointed to the Departments of Biology and Chemistry, and Schools of Pharmacy and Optometry.
