Biography
Teresa Fortney retired from a 35-year career as a Finance Executive and Strategic Leader in 2022. Her career spanned food processing, consumer goods, automotive and manufacturing companies that were publicly traded on the TSX including Clearwater Seafoods, Maple Leaf Foods, Schneider’s Foods and Wescast Industries.
As a Chief Financial Officer, she gained broad global finance experience including financial and regulatory reporting, internal controls, risk management, taxation, financing, pension plan governance, investor and analyst management, M&A, performance metrics and business analytics and management. Teresa enjoys solving complex problems by collaborating with all stakeholders, leveraging ideas and experience to achieve optimal solutions. Teresa received her Bachelor of Mathematics, co-op degree from the University of Waterloo and is an FCPA, FCMA with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada and Ontario.
Teresa is a strong believer in experienced-based education provided through co-op programs. Her focus in retirement is to share her experience with organizations operating in the Education, Natural Resources, Food and Health Care industries to achieve their strategies and goals using good governance practices.
