The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented questions regarding hygiene, risks, and general awareness for touch-based public displays.
"There’s a magical moment in a design studio when it hums with activity, a creative flow that’s infectious. Late September, I walked into FINE 201 after a coffee break and found students sprawled across their desks, the floor, and the hall—every work surface covered with cardboard, X-Acto knives, tape, and paint.
Design is the cornerstone of technology. We can solve problems, fulfill our needs, shape our world, and change the future through design.
Christine McWebb, Director, Academic Programs, invites all current GBDA students to join her in a conversation about the 2021-2022 academic year. This Town Hall will be taking place in person in the atrium as well as online.
Daniel Harley, professor at the Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business and Games Institute faculty member, co-authored “Playing by Ear: Designing for the Physical in a Sound-Based Virtual Reality Narrative” with Aneesh P. Tarun, Bonnie J. Stinson, Tudor Tibu, and Ali Mazalek.
This past weekend, over 100 industry professionals, students and speakers participated in BLND - the annual business and design conference hosted by the Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business.
There's no doubt that 2020 was a crazy and challenging year. A large chunk of that year was spent in lockdown. The experience of being confined to our houses during a pandemic has led us to seek some sort of escape. And for many students at the Stratford School of Interaction Design and Business, that escape was unlocked by art.
Channelling an optimistic creative mindset, BLND will envision how our world might look in the future, as well as the work needed to shape it. Over the course of three days, BLND will explore the emerging areas at the forefront of design, collaboration, and the future of work.
As the pandemic drove people online to work, study and connect with loved ones, Leah Zhang-Kennedy doubled down on her commitment to making digital spaces safer for everyone.
