Uncomfortable is OK: How Truth and Reconciliation Shapes us all
Join us, on National Aboriginal Day, for insight into the Indigenous experience and learn how community education provides opportunity for positive impact. The Stratford Public Library and University of Waterloo will welcome Lori Campbell, Director of the Waterloo Aboriginal Education Centre to the U of W Stratford Campus for a free community lecture.
Lori identifies as Āpihtākosisāniskwēw, Métis, Nēhiyaw (Cree) and Scottish, and will share stories of her experiences as an intergenerational survivor of the Indian residential school system and as a child from the Sixties Scoop generation. Her background as an Indigenous Studies scholar and speaker and her honesty in sharing her experiences inspires and stimulates essential conversations that strengthen reconciliation between indigenous and non-Indigenous cultures.
This free lecture will follow the same format of the very successful Autonomous Cars lecture held in March 2017, with a frank discussion on Truth and Reconciliation, the future of Indigenous cultures in Stratford and Canada, and an informal question and answer period.
This lively and informative discussion will be moderated by Judy Maddren, former CBC host.
